Raga Abhogi: Apopular melody from North and South India is Raga Abhogi. This is a five note Raga in which the fifth and seventh notes of the scale are omitted. The third note in the scale is flat. The two Tambouras are tuned to three notes of the melody-the tonic, the fourth and the sixth scale agree. The performance of Abhogi creates a mood which is both sober and romantic The first side of the recording is a melodic improvisation played on Bansuri without Tabla.
