Description
Like Fred Elizalde, SPIKE HUGHES was an evangelist for hot American Jazz in England. He populated his "DANCE ORCHESTRA" with the best local talent available, and when the opportunity arose, he travelled to the United States and formed the "Negro" orchestra of his dreams!
The present record, made in England in 1930, shows Spike well on the way toward that lofty pinnacle. "Fats" Waller's "BLUE TURNING GREY OVER YOU" and the Van & Schenck movie tune "HARLEM MADNESS" are the subjects du jour, and Spike & his boys handle them with dispatch!
This original 1930 English Decca F. 1861 is in fine E condition, with some little scratches.
