Description

HERE'S A pungent piece o' quintessential "film noir" music! It's "HARLEM NOCTURNE," played by young rhythm 'n' blues drummer, producer, DJ and wit, JOHNNY OTIS...  HIS DRUMS AND HIS ORCHESTRA!  The early Otis Big Band. Written by EARLE HAGEN, with midnight wailing alto sax solo by RENE BLOCK, this piece grabs the mood, strippers appear out of nowhere, and never lets it go. If you play this record for your date, with certain lighting, she will clutch your arm all the harder. 


The flip side, "ULTRA VIOLET" is more of the same - perhaps after the murder? 


This original 1946 United Artist UA-142 is in clean E condition.  There is a tiny rim flake on "Harlem," just to the first rotation of the groove.
