Up for auction is the stereo PROMO BOX edition of Nilsson's masterpiece of a debut. The packaging is almost complete, including the Hard to Find BUTTON. I believe the membership card is all that is missing and there may have been 2 sticker sheets originally (Accounts Vary).

Harry Nilsson's debut album, Pandemonium Shadow Show, was notoriously loved by the Beatles, and it's easy to see why. This is the only record of its time that feels akin to Sgt. Pepper, and in some ways, it's every bit as impressive. Nilsson works on a much smaller scale, leaning heavily on whimsy yet cutting it with sardonic humor and embellishing it with remarkable song and studiocraft; it's as if McCartney and Lennon were fused into the same body...Throughout it all, Nilsson impresses with his humor, cleverness, and above all, how his songwriting blossoms under his shockingly inventive studiocraft. Psychedelic pop albums rarely came better than this, and it remains a thorough delight.

Vinyl Condition: VG+

A couple of very small spindle marks, the vinyl looks nice with a few small surface marks and some light scuffs.

The LP plays through pretty clean with a bit of surface noise noticeable on the first few revolutions. Beyond this, there is occasional light surface noise but not enough to be distracting.

Sleeve Condition: I have graded the box and sleeve separately below

Sleeve- EX

The sleeve is in great shape. Corner, edge and ring wear are all minor.

Box- VG

The cover (top) has some wear to the image, the edges are pretty frayed and the corners are all split. The back of the box (bottom) is pretty scratched up and the edges are pretty worn. The corners of this portion are pretty solid.

Insert Condition: I have graded each insert separately below

-"NILSSON: the true one" BUTTON- NM

The button does not seem to have ever been worn or stuck and is in like new condition. There are some very tiny bubbles in the laminate, visible upon close inspection, which is certainly original from construction.

-2 BALLOONS (1 red & 1 green)- VG+

As far as 40 year old balloons go, these are in great shape.  The logos are complete and unfaded. There are crinkles where they are stuck in on themselves (they've been stored flat in this box

-Sheet of 4 "NILSSON: the true one" STICKERS- VG+

The pink is still pretty vibrant, though there is age discoloration to the entire sheet.

-2 8x10 PHOTOS- VG+

Both photos are in very nice condition, both have some scrapes and indentations from life in the box. Corner wear is minimal, they are a bit discolored from age, most noticeably around the border of the one of Nilsson seated at the piano.

-Fold out promo POSTER- VG

The poster is in nice shape with some stains of age and wear at the fold. There are the remnants of folds on the two right corners and the middle section of the left. Additionally, there are two very tiny tears on the left edge.

Crinkly bends around the staple and a couple of smudge stains near the letterhead on page one.

Small indentation down a bit from the staples on page 1 and a smudge stain near the letterhead.

Just a small smudge at the bottom of first page and some indentations around the staple.

ABOUT ME / MY POLICIES

I am a collector and not a store; all records are from my personal collection. I will sell no record that I have not listened to carefully (unless unopened). All have been played and I tend to be overly critical of condition. I use the goldmine grading system with the added EX grade.

I am selling a large portion of my collection. Due to the volume, I may not have the time to list the tracks. I will, however, provide photos of every aspect of the packaging, including photos of the track listings.  I will also provide photos of damage to the jacket. I do my best to include distinguishing features such as matrix numbers in the description.

Every open record in my collection will be play-graded with a clean high end stylus prior to listing. 

Prior to listening, all are cleaned thoroughly with the Disc Dr. Record Cleaner.  After cleaning and listening, they are put into a new anti-static sleeve. I ship records outside of their jackets together in a vinyl outer sleeve. I will generally include the original inner sleeve whether or not it is custom to the record. If a record is sealed, it will be left that way unless the winning bidder requests it to be opened and shipped outside of the jacket.

I realize that many of my policies require a leap of faith on the bidder’s part but they are necessary to me as I have no recourse as a seller. This collection reflects years of work and I could never rebuild it.

I have a deep respect for music lovers, especially record lovers and collectors. I strive to maintain the highest level of honesty and professionalism and expect the same.
