Original 1957 US private pressing on Gate 5 Records (catalog # 5701 & HP-101/HP-102, turquoise labels with silver print), with 8-page bound booklet of composer's notes (NOTE: THIS ALBUM CONTAINS TWO COPIES OF THIS BOOKLET).Gorgeous original first pressing of this avant-garde work by Harry Partch, privately issued on Partch's own Gate 5 Records.
IMPORTANT NOTE: this copy only contains a single LP (Side 1 & Side 2), I believe this release is actually supposed to be a double album, in which case this copy is MISSING sides 3 & 4. Please only bid if you understand that this album appears to be incomplete.

Between 1930 and 1972, he created one of the most amazing bodies of sensually alluring and emotionally powerful music of the 20th century: music dramas, dance theater, multi-media extravaganzas, vocal music and chamber music---mostly all performed on the instruments he built himself. CONDITION: Cover VG+ / Vinyl VG+ cover is intact, still has flap on back, has a little bit of water-staining at extreme lower left edge; booklet is excellent, nice and bright with just several small spots of foxing (second copy more like VG with some wear); vinyl is in nice shape, strong VG+ with very little playwear, some cloudiness/haze from the rice-paper sleeve, tiny bit of extremely light surface scratching. Graded conservatively using Goldmine standards [G / G+ / VG / VG+ / NM / ]grade only used if record is brand new.
