CONDITION: (cover/records): (MINT / MINT) ...BRAND NEW - NEVER PLAYED... ...one record on blue-grey marbled vinyl, and the other on a soft yellow'n'grey marbled vinyl...ONLY 300 PRESSED (280 on these colours and 20 more on various random colours: pink, green, grey-green, plain blue...just a few of each...but you'll find that the FdM fellers have a few of these still...good luck with any o' them!)...and the whole run is, of course, already LONG out-of-print!...

"...OK, courtesy of the very fine Fruits De Mer Records from Waltham-on-Thames, a small but perfectly formed vinyl-only label, comes 'Volume 12: The Hausfrauen Experiment' - a double 7" vinyl release courtesy of them crazy Hausfrauens, namely Tracy, Vyolette and Lisa (who hail from the UK and not, as might be supposed, from Germany). Volume 12 comprises four magnificently playful retro/futuristic synth based reinterpretations of songs by Silver Apples ('Oscillations'), Hawkwind ('Spirit of the Age'), Eno ('Baby's On Fire') and Cockney Rebel ('Sebastian'). The Eno one is, if push came to shove, my favourite but the others are all excellent as well. If you can imagine a tasteful and tasty electro-stew of Kraftwerk, Death in Vegas and the Flying Lizards imaginatively interpreted by French and Saunders and performed by 3 mischievous sweethearts then not only does your imagination do you credit but you’re already half way to liking this somewhat atypical release from the usually psych-fixated Fruits people. Here, then, is a precious little offering hugely deserving of your love and attention. It certainly reduced me to a grinning fool. More please."

"Members of The Hausfrauen Experiment have worked with The Beloved, Eyeless in Gaza, Nurse With Wound, Orchis, Temple Music and S.Q.E. to name but a few.... they got together to bemoan the state of alternative music and popular culture over some nice coffee with sprinkles and a glass of Kirsch on the side, and decided to amuse themselves by recreating their fave pop moments using vintage synth and fx rather than suffer people in the deli going on about the X-Factor. Their first effort, a cover of Das Model, received plaudits from Hans-Joachim Roedelius of Cluster; encouraged, they proceeded to plunder the back catalogue of Eno, The Silver Apples, Skeeter Davies, Japan, Duran Duran, Mott The Hoople, T Rex, Can... anything they liked and thought was cool; then those nice people at Fruits de Mer approached the band about doing a single... this then expanded into a double 7"...and here's the wonderful outcome."
