Machined First UK press matrices: A-1U B-2U the earliest possible issue and according to the mother stampers this copy is one of the very first issued in the first few days.

ORIGINAL UK UNITED ARTISTS (UAG 29202) FIRST PRESSING (October 1971) OF HAWKWIND'S SPACE/PROG MASTERPIECE "In Search Of Space" IN EXCELLENT CONDITION (barely played, two or three light spindle traces on the labels, at most) AND DELIVERING BEAUTIFULLY CLEAN, NEAR SILENT AUDIO THROUGHOUT - WHICH IS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO FIND AS THE LP HAS MANY VERY QUIET MOMENTS WHICH ARE COMMONLY SPOILT BY EXCESSIVE SURFACE NOISE - BUT THIS IS ONE OF THE FINEST AND CLEANEST SOUNDING COPIES I HAVE HEARD IN A WHILE  - FANTASTIC COPY AND THEY REALLY DON'T COME MUCH BETTER , MOST COPIES HAVING BEEN PLAYED TO DEATH AND NOT LOOKED AFTER. THIS BEAUTY HAD A VERY CAREFUL OWNER WHO RESPECTED HIS VINYL.

In Se In Search of Space strengthened Hawkwind's science fiction-type brand of progressive rock, gaining bass player Dave Anderson and galactic poet extraordinaire Rob Calvert, while losing John Harrison at the same time. 
The album opens with the mind-numbing galactic haze of "You Shouldn't Do That," a spooky little 15-minute excursion that warps, throbs, and swirls with Dik Mik's "audio generator" and the steady drum pace of Terry Ollis. 
Then comes the ominous whispering of the title, set to the pulsating waves of Dave Brock's guitar and Turner's alto sax, with Dettmar's synth work laying the foundation. 
Wonderfully setting the tone, "You Shouldn't Do That"'s improvisational looseness and rhythmic fusion smoothly open up the album into the realm of Hawkwind. 
The peculiarity never ceases, as "You Know You're Only Dreaming" and "We Took the Wrong Steps Years Ago" delves even deeper into obscurity, sometimes emanating with the familiar jangle of the guitar which then has its acquaintance overshadowed by the waft of the keyboard. 
Just as "Master of the Universe" chugs and rolls with a foreboding rhythm, "Adjust Me" retaliates with its moaning verse and tonal fluctuations fading into oblivion. 
The groundbreaking sound which Hawkwind achieved on In Search of Space helped to open up a whole new avenue of progressive rock

 Gatefold GIMMIX Sleeve:  EX+.  The classic UK 1st Press Fold-Out Sleeve is  in STUNNING condition with  NO Tears, NO seam splits, NO Scribbles and NO unwanted writing of any kind!!!  It is completely blemish free!!! It has virtually NONE of the edge and corner wear commonly associated with this record. There are many sharp corners on this sleeve which have usually worn out. Not this one, all edges are razor sharp and the closing flip is fully intact !!! It folds out perfect to reveal the awesome 22 page 'Log Book', again massively rare for this LP. Only the 1st press came with this Log book, and very, very few are left in existence today.  This is also the very first copy of the booklet in blue/grey colour. A second edition booklet was dullblack in colour. The spine is 100% fully legible, not many copies out there like this! the Outer Sleeve grades as EX at the very least!!!!

The LP Tri-folds out to reveal to reveal printed inner lyrics! Please check out our feedback and bid with confidence as this is a no reserve auction with a very low starting price!  Don't miss this one as the Original UK Stereo 1st Press of this seminal LP rarely turns up nowadays (and NEVER EVER complete and in this condition!)A  great gatefold sleeve which being matt is always susceptible to wear. This copy is in great shape with a fully legible spine, it has to be seen in the flesh to be appreciated to its full extent. Only the very lightest of edge wear. No splits or tears or creases.

The logbook has seen some use and has a couple of small tears to the back but is complete.

Vinyl: EX.  Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen and are practically unmarked and shine like new. There are one or two very light and superficial hairlines but these have no audio consequence - the record sounds sensational
 Outstanding audio delivery in all respects with a crystal clear, deep, rich, warm and detailed sound and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing and it's always an immense pleasure to return to this one) there are no scratches, no sticks or jumps, no clicks or pops and barely any surface noise (really hardly anything worth a mention and to be incredibly picky, maybe just a touch on the run-ins). This is a beautifully clean pressing (and I must emphasise again how difficult it is to find a copy which plays this well). The whole LP sounds absolutely stunning and plays to an extremely high standard with superb clarity, no groove-wear and no distortion and is very strictly graded a strong EX for audio  - great copy!! Of course, NO skips, NO jumps, NO ticks.
