HAWKWIND In Search Of Space (United Artists UAG 29202) RARE UK 1st Pressing +Insert MINT-
RARE original UK first pressing of "In Search Of Space" by Hawkwind on United Artists Records (1971).
Little did the hippies of Ladbroke Grove realise that, with the release of "In Search Of Space" (October 1971), the local boozers that comprised Hawkwind were to forever define the concept of "space rock" - or did they?
Lester Bangs in Rolling Stone hilariously put it this way: "Monotone jammings with hypnotic rhythms and solos unravelling off into...well, space. The synthesizers warble, woof and scream and gurgle like barfing computers, the drums pound, and the singers chant Unknown Tongue rebops." What could one add to such a profound analysis?
GRADING:
MINT- COVER. Near-perfect except for a light crease to the die-cut sleeve`s upper jag and a second small crease to the left opening flap (at bottom). Please see photos for details.
Also includes the original Hawkwind "log book" insert in absolutely perfect, unused MINT condition!
MINT- RECORD with a few very light hairlines from sleeve removal only. You will find it hard to top this copy; it`s truly a keeper.
The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "A-1U" and "B-2U", respectively. This indicates that the record is a very early, possibly a first UK pressing!
PLEASE NOTE: Over the next few months, we will regularly be offering a number of rarities, mainly progressive and avantgarde records: A very discerning, long-time collector friend left us his treasure chest! Not only are many of these lps extremely rare, they are almost all in MINT(-) condition - both inside and out.
As we slowly inch our way closer to spring, we will be spreading the goodies out, in no special order. Suffice to say that the best is still to come!
