Another from my personal collection, Purchased from new and barely ever played. This has been stored in a case for over 30 years or more, with the vinyl seperated from the cover and sleeve the way that I have always stored my records! This has helped to protect this album for all of this time! This album is very collectable like this in this truly awesome condition with just the bare minimal ware with age! This also being the earliest 1st UK pressing make this very desirable! Look -1u Matrix ending both sides and ''1'' to ''1'' mother stampers means that this was pressed from the earliest possible master which produces the best audio available on vinyl in my personal opinion! The audio is near perfect on my systems and played through almost flawless! Stunning top top audio throughout without any noticable interfearance very rare to ever find like this!

Warrior on the Edge of Time is Hawkwind's fifth studio album. 1975 It reached #13 on the UK album charts and was their third and last album to make the US Billboard chart, where it peaked at #150. Many of the lyrics are by Michael Moorcock and the album is loosely based on the concept of Moorcock's Eternal Champion!!.

Having recruited a second drummer, Alan Powell, this album's line-up was short-lived. Soon after the album's release, bassist Lemmy had left and vocalist Robert Calvert rejoined by the end of the year!

Side 1.

1."Assault and Battery" lyrics quote from Henry Wadswort Longfellow's poem "Psalm Of Life". The song is a popular live number, being performed occasionally over the years, and has appeared on numerous live albums, sometimes under the title "Lives of Great Men". It was included as part of the live show for The Chronicle of the Black Sword concept, appearing on the album Live Chronicles!!.

2."The Golden Void" segues from "Assault and Battery", and the two songs are often performed live as a pair as on the albums Palace Springs (1991) and Canterbury Fayre 2001. The song is a popular live number, being performed occasionally over the years, and has appeared on numerous live albums, sometimes under the title "Void of Golden Light", as on 1994's The Business Trip!.

3."The Wizard Blew His Horn", "Standing at the Edge" and "Warriors" are Michael Moorcock poems based on his Eternal Champion literary figure. The poems are recited to atmospheric soundscapes provided by Simon House, and the percusionists Simon King and Alan Powell. The band had been performing them on stage during 1974, versions appearing on the The 1999 Party live album!.

4."Opa-Loka" is an instrumental that features a motorik rhythm and is strongly influenced by the music of Neu!, the title possibly being a reference to Opa-locka, Florida. It was performed live, but when Robert Calvert joined the band at the beginning of 1976, he would recite the poem "Vikings on Mars" over the top of it, the song evolving into "Uncle Sam's on Mars" on the 1979 album PXR5!.

5."The Demented Man" is a Brock acoustic number.

Side 2.

1."Magnu" (misspelt ''Magno'' on this pressing!, very very rare 1st) lyrics are based upon Percy Shelley's "Song To Apollo" poem. The song is a popular live number, being performed occasionally over the years, versions on the albums Choose Your Masques: Collectors Series Volume 2 (1982), The Friday Rock Show Sessions (1986) and Canterbury Fayre 2001!

2."Standing at the Edge" (Moorcock, House, Powell, King) !.

3."Spiral Galaxy 28948" is a Simon House instrumental, the title being his date of birth (28 September 1948). It was performed live in 1975 after the release of the album, and again during 2001 when House had temporarily rejoined the band, a version appearing on the album Canterbury Fayre 2001.

The Vinyl

This lays perfectly flat on the turntable and looks awesome for 34 years old , still retaining its original sheen from new! On initial inspection I can barely see a blemish, Only in strong light can any surface marks/sleeve scuffs possibly be seen just very light whyspy sleeve removal marks only absolutely (no) audio sounding marks that I heard what so ever, at least no marks that caused any clicks or pops! Unbeleivable to find!

The Labels

Feature the United Artists Labels! Are in superbe condition a mimimal amount of spider marks can be seen angled to the light only!

The Audio Quality

I have played this through track for track at very loud volume on a top system! The audio was very near perfect throughout in fact this plays almost as new in my opinion,, or at least as good as it gets quite astonishing! Absolutely cristal clear and very vibrant and fantastic audio seperation indeed, deep ich and extreemely vibbrrant through out! (no) clicks or pops and certainly (no) distortion in fact i never even heard. I would grade the audio as very near perfect\at least excellent plus to very near mint!

The record sleeve

This is the original 1st press orange 'Hawkwind' insert sleeve containing track listings on one side and a picture on the other! The edge sides are becoming fragile with age and are begining to split. This is the original!  

The cover

This is the original unlaminated pop out poster \gatefold cover! Very very rare to find in this awesome condition! (no) splits or tares amaizingly no real nasty rubbing ware (normaly so common) worth to mention, just verry minor rubbing only noticed if looked for.! Absolutely superbe spine all writing is legible Top Top condition like this! Any creases noticed are minor in my opinion and again only noticed if looked for (noted front top right corner and minor at the spine) Please note the vinyl has always been stored seperately from the vinyl and sleeve for protection for at least 25 years or more! Graded at least excellent in my opinion if not better!
