THE BUCCANEERS - Dear Ruth b/w Fine Brown Frame Southern (cat# 101) Original 1953 78 RPM Pressing
This is a very nice copy of a highly collectable 78 by The Buccaneers on which they perform Dear Ruth b/w Fine Brown Frame. The 78 was released in early 1953 and was the Buccuneers 1st record as well as the only record ever released on Philly label Southern (cat # 101). The record looks very good, it is shiny with no chips or cracks and it can only get better with a thorough cleaning. It does have a few cosmetic surface scuffs but nothing deep that has an effect on the grooves or music. With a M78S needle, it likes to play towards the heavier side of the recommended tracking weight. There are very light spindle marks on the label - considering this and the condition of the 78, it is very possible that this record did not have many plays. This is the original version of Dear Ruth which the lead singer wrote for his girlfriend. Please listen to the samples and have look at the photos!
