This auction is for three near mint vinyl single albums by the Canadian rock band, Heart:
Magazine - 1978; Heart (Greatest Hits - Live) - 1981; and Bad Animals - 1987, plus
the 3-track/picture sleeve, 12” maxi-single, Alone - 1987.

There is also a bonus/free live CD, the second disc from the mid-70s triple CD set, When We Were Young/On the Road 1976 which is now virtually impossible to find.


Magazine (Arista/Mushroom, Cat. No. SPARTA 1024 [matrices A1/B1], 1978 UK pressing, and comes with both an inner/lyric sleeve and a separate polyliner)

Though largely a studio album released after the group left Mushroom (Arista), the last two tracks were recorded live during a gig at The Aquarius in Seattle, Washington State back in 1975. the first of these two songs, Mother Earth Blues, is a variation on the Led Zeppelin song You Shook Me.

Side 1            Heartless; Devil Delight; Just The Wine & Without You.

Condition:
Vinyl            No marks, still very shiny, plays with full, clear sound and no obvious extraneous noises either in the run-ins/outs, between or during the tracks. [Mint-].
Label           Spotless with no blemishes or other signs of use/deterioration. Rim text includes words “Made In Great Britain”.  [Mint-].
Sleeve(s)    Single pocket, shiny but not gloss-finished card outer sleeve has small squashes and wear/rubbing at some of the corners, minor spine wear, traces of dried adhesive tape (mostly along part of the top edge which has come a little unstuck from its inner securing flap, but no tape present now), some surface creases (most noticeably on the front near the lower spine and near the middle of the lower edge), a hint of a very small upper edge seam split, light open edge fedathering, a few - mainly light - surface scuffs/marks and, just about visible in direct light and mostly on the back, a trace of ringwear.
Otherwise though, this 38+ years old sleeve still has strong colouring, a clear/straight and easily-readable spine, sharp and mostly clean edges/seams, smooth/clean surfaces with no writing, tears or other obvious deterioration/damage beyond the creasing/light marking mentioned above. [Exc].
The white, stiff paper inner/lyric sleeve with its rounded lower corners has some light surface scuffs and handling marks and, again just visible in direct light, a little ringwear. It too is, otherwise, very clean with no obvious deterioration/undue wear. [Exc +].
The polyliner is, aside from minor handling marks, in very close to “as-new” condition. [Exc+].


Heart (Greatest Hits/Live) (Epic/CBS, Cat. No. EPC 84829 [matrices A1/B1], 1981 UK pressing, and comes with a plain polylined inner sleeve).

Released at a quiet point in the band’s career, this compilation album showcases both sides of Heart’s growing appeal to rock audiences in North America, Europe and East Asia, most notably Japan.
While side one features some of their more popular number, the selection wisely ignores most of the really big tracks (Magic Man, Crazy On You, etc..) and instead goes for songs (e.g. Straight On, Dog & Butterfly and Even It Up) that are equally strong and perhaps better known by those who’d seen them live, plus a previously unrecorded track - a cover of Tell It Like It Is - thus meaning that this album a much better deal for existing fans than compilation albums tend to be.

Side two however doesn’t pussyfoot around and the listener gets an enjoyable sample of 5 cuts from shows from a variety of US West Coast gigs in August and September 1980, including covers of the Beatles’ I’m Down (part of a medley with Little Richard’s Long Tall Sally) and Led Zep’s Rock And Roll - ironically and tragically drummer John Bonham would be found dead just after the last of these gigs, making this released version a very timely and poignant tribute - along with Unchained Melody and a couple of their own compositions, Bebe Le Strange and Sweet Darlin’.

Vinyl            No marks, still very shiny, plays with full, clear sound and no obvious extraneous noises either in the run-ins/outs, between or during the tracks. [Mint-].
Label           Spotless with no blemishes or other signs of use/deterioration. [Mint-].
Sleeve(s)    Single pocket, shiny but not gloss-finished card outer sleeve printed by Shorewood Packaging that, somewhat inevitably for its age, has signs of wear/deterioration. Most noticeably, there is some creasing on the front/rear surfaces (mainly near the lower half of the spine), also small squashes and wear at the lower corners, minimal open edge feathering, light lower edge rubbing, some light spine creasing, a few minor surface scuffs/marks and, just about visible in direct light a hint of front/rear ringwear.
Otherwise though, this 36+ years old sleeve still has strong colouring, a clear/straight spine, sharp edges/seams, smooth/clean surfaces with no writing, tears or other obvious deterioration/damage beyond that mentioned above. [Exc].
The polyliner is, aside from minor handling marks, in very close to “as-new” condition. [Exc+].


Bad Animals (Capitol/EMI, Cat. No. ESTU 2032 [matrices A5/B3], 1987 UK pressing, and comes with both an inner/lyric sleeve and a separate polyliner).

The early to mid 1980s were a decidedly quiet time for Heart but, having signed to the Capitol label and brought in drummer Denny Carmassi and former Spirit bassist Mark Andes, the group found a new lease of life and released two of their very best albums.
Bad Animals - 1987 - was the second of these and featured not only the massively successful single, Alone, but also several other really strong songs, including the powerfully moody Wait For An Answer, R.S.V.P. and the aching I Want You So Bad.

Condition:
Vinyl           No marks, still very shiny and with some of the static usually only present on new discs, plays with full, clear sound and no obvious extraneous surface noise on the run-ins/outs and during/between the tracks. [Mint-].
Label         Spotless with no blemishes or other signs of use/deterioration. [Mint-].
Sleeve(s)   Single pocket, shiny but not gloss-finished card outer sleeve that, despite its age, has very few signs of wear/deterioration. In fact, the worst things that can be said are that the spine has some crinkle/crease marks and there are a number of very, very small scuff marks here and there on the surfaces, and even then hardly any of those are visible in normal light.
This 29+ years old sleeve really is very impressive, with strong/clear colouring, a solid and easily-read spine, sharp edges/seams with no signs of any wear, no feathering on the open edges, no ringwear and smooth/clean surfaces with no writing, tears or other obvious deterioration/damage beyond that mentioned above. [Mint -].
The white, stiff paper inner/lyric sleeve has some light surface scuffs/handling marks and a small ding/squash on one lower corner. It is, otherwise, very clean with no obvious deterioration/undue wear. [Exc +].
The polyliner is, aside from minor handling marks, in very close to “as-new” condition. [Exc+].


Alone (Capitol/EMI, Cat. No. 12CL 448 [matrices A1/B1], 1987 12” “maxi-single”, UK pressing, and comes with both a picture sleeve and a separate polyliner).

Tracks - Alone; *Barracuda & *Magic Man. (*Both recorded live at Tokyo’s NHK Hall in June 1986).

Condition:
Vinyl           No marks, still very shiny with some of the static usually only present on new discs. Plays with full, clear sound and no obvious extraneous noises. [Mint-].
Label          Very clean with no spindle marks at all and no obvious blemishes or signs of wear/deterioration. [Mint-].
Sleeve(s):   Stiff paper, semi-gloss single pocket outer sleeve that has some creasing near the lower spine and bottom edge (front/back), a number of surface marks/scuffs, some gold-coloured marks down the right edge (though these may be related to the printing process), slight surface disolouration (on the back) and a little ringwear (also mostly on the back).
Otherwise, this sleeve is still looks very pleasing, with strong colouring, no obvious deterioration to the edges/seams, no open edge feathering and clean/smooth surfaces with no tears, writing or other obvious wear/damage other than that described above. [Exc -].
The polylined inner in as-new condition [Mint-].

The bonus/free live CD - the second disc from a triple CD set, When We Were Young/On The Road 1976 - features 12 tracks recorded at the Agora in Cleveland, Ohio on 16/10/1976. It finds the group in excellent form, running though a typical setlist from those early days that ends with their own version of Led Zep’s Rock And Roll, complete with a short but very nice drum solo.
The total run time is about 73 minutes and - fortunately, because they generate a really good atmosphere - there’s no song separation. There is, in particular, a lot of superb guitar work, mainly from Roger Fisher, as well as some excellent Ann Wilson flute and drumwork, making this a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Please do not ask me to make an exception in your case as I no longer respond to these requests and have made my payment preferences clear at the start of this paragraph.

You may bid on multiple auctions ending on different days if the last auction ends seven days or less after the first. If you are bidding or want to bid on more than one of my auctions, please let me know after you win the first item/auction, so I know to delay sending your invoice until you tell me that you have finished bidding, You may pay for items at any time, but if you win multiple items you must then ensure that you complete full payment for them within four days of my sending the final invoice.

If payment is not received within the specified time and via the payment method I have specified, the item may go to the next highest bidder or be relisted. If appropriate I will file non-paying bidder alerts with Ebay in order to recover my final value fees & will block that bidder from my future auctions and - if payment is only received as a result of my filing non-paying bidder - I will not accept a return or offer a refund if you subsequently have a complaint.

POSTAGE & SHIPPING

Postage rates are specified on each auction. (Not advised, but parcel post and surface mail rates are avaiIable if desired-please ask). I always weigh items for postage costs, and allow a bit extra for the packaging. I put a lot of effort and care into packaging, and often use custom, cut to fit sturdy cardboard, tubes, etc.. that has given excellent delivery results over the past 6 years. I will be happy to combine multiple purchases and hopefully be able to reduce the postage costs on your total. Royal Mail includes compensation cover (insurance) free on values currently up to £40 and, in some circumstances. I may add insurance on items over that amount for my own protection and yours.

I now normally ship twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays (if a holiday then the following day). Your package will usually be posted no later than the first Tuesday or Friday following payment, and I shall notify you when it has been mailed.
