Description
FRANKIE QUARTELL AND HIS MELODY BOYS, a hot dance orchestra from Chicago, by way of New Orleans, gives out with a fine and lively fox trot: "HEART BROKEN STRAIN."
Some great and barely known folks among the personnel: FRANKIE QUARTELL, trumpet / LOUIS SHATTEL, trombone / AL HYATT, clarinet / MAURICE MORRIS, alto / DAVE SHOLDEN, tenor / JOHNNY PETRONE, piano / EARL WRIGHT, banjo, JULES CASSARD, tuba / DANNY ALVIN, drums.
Drummer Danny Alvin was still active in the1950s, he made LPs with Kid Ory!
THE LANIN ORCHESTRA is on the flip, with their more-or-less standard reading of "HONEST AND TRULY."
THIS original 1924 Maroon OKeh 40257 is in V+ condition. No damage; just knocked about a bit.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!
