UK producer Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) and US guitarist William Tyler join forces for a debut collaboration steeped in their mutual love of 1980s American country and folk. Artists like Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith and Joe Ely provide the album's emotional anchor, most directly referenced in a delicate, synth-washed cover of Lovett's 'If I Had a Boat'. Tyler's clean, expressive picking and Hebden's understated textural work create a sound that feels both pastoral and cinematic, with nods to Godspeed You! Black Emperor's widescreen drama and Fennesz's ambient shimmer. Highlights include the drifting lyricism of 'Spider Ballad', the slow-burn twang of 'Timber' and the atmospheric 'Loretta Guides My Hands Through the Radio'. Equal parts nostalgia and reinvention, the album recontextualises their formative influences into a modern, genre-fluid dialogue between guitar and electronics.
