Description: Original US pressing on Gabriell catalog # 2453. Includes insert. Rare private violin recital with Heimo Haitto on violin. Heimo Haitto, a Finnish child prodigy, was often called "Finland’s Jascha Heifetz”. Haitto’s career started at the tender age of 13 with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. Haitto playing won such high praise from critics, that he eventually toured Europe and the US. While in the US, he met and fell in love with a young cellist named Beverly LeBeck. Haitto soon married LeBeck and settled in Portland, Oregon in the mid 1940s. While residing in Portland, Haitto played with various US orchestras, such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic & the Philadelphia Orchestra. After a series of moves within the US, Haitto moved back to his native Finland in the late 1970s, where he lived a peaceful life until his passing in 1999.
