SETTLE IN FOR A LONG RUN OF COLLECTABLE LPs OF VARIOUS MUSICALS STYLES. This is a reasonably priced ORIGINAL 1955 EMARCY RECORDS U.S. PRESS MONO LP titled 'Helen Merrill With Strings' containing twelve tracks from jazz vocalist Helen Merrill with accompaniment by a noted combo. It is Emarcy Records catalog number MG-36057, deep groove heavy vinyl pressing, blue Emarcy labels with drummer logo, heavy cardboard cover with glossy front cover. Personnel: Helen Merrill-vocals / Hank Jones-piano / Milt Hinton-bass / Sol Gubin-drums / Barry Galbraith-guitar. Tracks: Lilac Wine, Anything Goes, Mountain High Valley Low, Beautiful Love, Comes Love, End Of A Love Affair, When I Fall In Love, The Masquerade Is Over, Just You Just Me, Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year, You Won't Forget Me, Wait Till You See Him. Technical condition of record is VG, with some light surface marks which cannot be felt and do not affect play, and one small feelable surface scuff on one track which necessitates the VG grading, without this one scuff the technical condition of the record would be a high VG+. This is a heavy rigid vinyl deep groove pressing which plays at a high VG+ level despite the feelable scuff - I have play tested the record over this area, and it plays very nicely through the scuff with just a tiny bit of light non-distracting crackly surface noise. Labels have a couple of light spindle marks and a little bit of wear around the center hole, no other real problems. Condition of cover is VG+ with a 2" split in the middle of the bottom edge, some contact wear and age discoloration, and a little wear along the edges and on the corners. Cover has no tears, stickers, or writing. This LP would be a choice addition to any jazz vocal LP record collection!
