Henri Chopin "Peche de nuit" 7" single issued by Alga Marghen (Alga 3) in Italy, 1996. Private edition limited to 15 signed and numbered copies. ****** Rec:m (never played) Cov:ex ****** "Peche de nuit", the first record ever issued by Henri Chopin, was first published in 1963 as a test pressing. It was then issued in Belgium by Cyanuur and included in the book "Le Dernier Roman du Monde". In 1996 Henri Chopin and Alga Marghen conceived a new edition (the first with a proper sleeve, conceived and designed by Henri Chopin) to be presented at Studio Morra in Naples for the party celebration of Chopin "Le Corpsbis & Co." CD. The edition consists of 19 copies, signed and numbered by Henri Chopin (4 artist private copies numbered from I to IV and 15 copies numbered from 1 to 15) with folded cover (cm. 27x30) including the 7" record. The front cover reproduces the dactylopoem titled "JC" dedicated to Jean Ratcliffe Chopin; the sleeve include liner notes by Henri Chopin and a short essay by Sten Hanson in Italian. In Chopin’s first novel "Le Dernier Roman du Monde" the bizarre, grotesque world of fantasy is mixed with reality, the absurd is confounded with logic and common-sense, beauty can be found next to monstrosity, humour follows closely on apocalyptic visions of horror. Chopin wrote his novel in a kind of "pop" language, the cliche prose of women’s magazines, still his writing is fresh, evocative, poetical. The text is interlaced with "poemes graphiques", original and subtle compositions of printed letters. The book was completed with Chopin’s recorded sound-poem "Peche de nuit", a vocal composition with 48 superimposionions. Predating the OU magazine, this edition was already a work of integral art: poetry, music, literature and typography joined together in perfect harmony. Chopin is the explorer of a Terra Incognita, an infra or ultra poetry of pure energy beyond language. He is the first artist to write a planetary poetry of spatial bodies. Chopin holds a central position in the history of 20th century avant-garde with his recordings, writings, and editing work (Burroughs, Hausmann, Gysin, Janco, members of the Lettrism and Fluxus movements and many others).
