Henry Cain's lone Capitol LP is most notable for its credits. Produced by the great David Axelrod and arranged by H.B. Barnum and Oliver Nelson, The Funky Organ-ization of Henry Cain is a funky set of soul-jazz instrumentals crafted with uncommon attention to detail. Cain is a soulful keyboardist with an appealing approach to the Hammond, and even if he lacks the vision and virtuosity of some of his better-known contemporaries, there's no denying the infectiousness of this record. Barnum and Nelson's arrangements deserve significant credit for keeping the music on message while also creating panoramic pockets of space for the musicians to move freely.

·                          THE RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)         WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)         The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)         The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(d)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                          THE COVER

COVER IS (WEAK) NEAR MINT,  STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP  (A LARGE PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Cover has one tiny, almost invisible, pinhole (or staple hole) in one corner. This tiny hole is NOT a cutout hole.

-       Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging. (nothing significant)

-       Cover has some tiny, faint writing on its back side (a microscopic price code written in one corner)

-       The cover has a small (1.1/2") razor-like line (cut) on the back panel, as if someone attempted to cut away the shrink wrap with a razor, but inadvertently left the mark on the cover as well. The paper slick is intact and no part is missing, but the razor line is visible.

-       Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the top seam  (nothing significant)  (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY)
