Description
Henry Hall recorded "Teddy Bears' Picnic" and "Hush, Hush, Hush, Here Comes The Bogey Man" with his orchestra in London on September 28, 1932. While the melody for "Teddy Bears' Picnic" dates back to 1907, this version with vocals by Val Rosing became the standard for the song. The coupling on Columbia F.B. 2816 became a mainstay of British children’s music and variety entertainment.
These recordings reflect the 1930s British obsession with "novelty" songs that blended dance band arrangements with theatrical, often slightly surreal, vocal performances. This specific aesthetic provided a necessary diversion for the British public during the interwar years, grounding popular culture in familiar, lighthearted themes that could be broadcast into the family home via the BBC.

The disc is sandwiched between corrugated cardboard and wrapped in bubble wrap. This is then placed inside a double-skin box filled with packing void to prevent movement and provide maximum protection. Carefully packed and promptly dispatched.
