Description

Here's a rathr scarce record album from HENRY JACOBS titled MUSIC & FOLKLORE. This is an original pressing released on the Folkways label, FP86-1, in 1955. Includes the original booklet of notes.

Culled from his weekly radio program 'Music & Folklore' which originally aired on Berkeley's once revolutionary KPFA radio station, Henry Jacobs' Radio Programme No.1 is a stunningly surreal sonic goulash of tight rhythmic loops, tape collages, experimental music, twisted satirical interviews, phony academic authorities, and Berkeley field recordings. This is, no doubt, an essential document in the annals of early American avant garde recordings.

Cover has edge scuffs, left side (spine) is split, a little writing at the top right corner, and there is some overall rubbing. Booklet is excellent. Vinyl has some paper scuffs and several light scratches. It is in STRONG VERY GOOD PLUS (VG++) CONDITION. There is an old price sticker on one side of the label that I have not attempted to remove.
