notes: This item is a BOX SET with 5 LPs. Included is an 8-page booklet. This item is not in M condition (see description below) but I've started it at a fair price. This is a collectible and highly musical Philips offering from a great violinist!
VG, textured box cover has repaired corners, light scuffing and couple spots front side, as shown in photo below. Back of box has couple of small scuffs, clean otherwise.
vinyls:NM for 8 of the 10 sides: no scratches, no scuffing and light spindle markings. Here's what keeps this entire set of LPs from all being NM:
Side 4 - 2 light scratches, 1 makes a few light pops.
Side 7 - a single 1/2" scratch at the end of the side which makes light pops.
Rest of both these sides are NM.
MY GRADING STYLE: I make every attempt to be fair and accurate in my grading (and I am a harsh critic -- as some other LP sellers have found out! -- because I collect LPs as well as sell them) and believe my eBay seller's feedback reflects this. Take a look and see what I mean.
Note, however, that my inspection and grading are largely visual; I don't get a chance to play every LP, and like all aged vinyl records, there may be the inevitable light popping and occasional crackles. A good *careful* cleaning -- or the use of a disk cleaning machine -- can often help to remove these noises, in many cases.
If I state that I have played, or sampled, an LP in my description of the vinyl, then I will give you my opinion as to the condition based on playing using my Sony PS-X75 turntable tracking at 1.2-1.5 grams. Many scratches (and nearly all scratches on LPs I auction here) cannot be heard, and I will perform a test playing to determine whether I hear any noise (rhythmic 'ticks,' 'pops,' etc.) from a scratch or not. If I report I don't hear anything, then I honestly do not. And if I do hear a rhythmic pop due to the scratch, then I will note that in the vinyl condition description.
Thus, based on my fair description of the item, LPs are auctioned and sold in AS-IS condition; that is, as I describe the item.
I have recently come upon a product, called Gruv-Glide, which appears to work at improving the sound quality of LPs. It is available at certain local (in the U.S.A.) music and guitar shops, and can be found for sale via a search of the internet. Here is a Gruv-Glide technical description. Gruv-Glide is for sale at the bottom of that web page, though you can find it cheaper elsewhere on the 'net. Cheapest I've seen is US$21.99 + s/h.
(NOTE: I have no affiliation with the Gruv-Glide company nor anyone selling the product, and make no guarantees as to its effectiveness, use nor safety in any circumstance. However, several fellow 'vinyl junkies' have recommended it to me, and I have a can myself. It did make the vinyl look and, I thought, sound a little better (i.e., less 'noisy').
NOTE, TOO: I do *not* 'doctor up' with Gruv-Glide any LPs I have listed for auction. If anything, I perform a hand cleaning only to the vinyl and cover, as needed. My letting you know about Gruv-Glide is simply my 'value-added' way of giving you an option to enhance the sound and appearance of your own LPs, if you wish.)
RECORD GRADING: (Nearly all the LPs I offer will be in the NM to VG+ range.)
FACTORY SEALED: "FS" - An unopened LP. Note that with a sealed album, I cannot verify condition of vinyl or inner sleeve. MINT: "M" - Opened, but appearing essentially as new. No noticeable flaws. NEAR MINT: "NM" - Nearly mint, but with only the tiniest flaws. An NM- indicates not quite an NM, but better than VG+. VERY GOOD+: "VG+ - A used LP, showing slight wear. VERY GOOD: "VG" - An acceptable LP, but with more wear. No major flaws. A VG- is rare, and used for a very collectible LP otherwise. FAIR: "F" - An LP with one or more major flaws. Probably good as a 'filler' LP only, just so you can say: "I have a copy!"** BUYER PAYS ALL SHIPPING CHARGES **
