- The Artist & Date: Recorded on June 17, 1964, at Van Gelder Studio, when Herbie Hancock was only 24 years old and playing in the Miles Davis Quintet.
- The Band: Features an all-star quartet with Freddie Hubbard (cornet/trumpet), Ron Carter (bass), and Tony Williams (drums).
- Key Tracks: Includes the original versions of "Cantaloupe Island" and "One Finger Snap," alongside "Oliloquy Valley" and "The Egg".
- Mastering: Cut by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio straight from the original Rudy Van Gelder Blue Note master tapes. Music Matters upgraded their analog studio chain with specialized Class A electronics and cabling specifically for this 33 RPM series.
- Pressing: Pressed on heavy 180-gram virgin vinyl at RTI (Record Technology Inc.).
