NOTE: Before I get started something needs some clarifying amongst the so called "Blue Note/Prestige Officianados" regarding the Stereo/Mono issue. Whoever said that the Mono's are always better, especially for 1964 recordings was/is dead wrong, for any jazz buff worth his salt knows that these guys Van Gelder and Grauer were wizards in the studio, they were the George Martins of Jazz recordings. With stereo still a relatively new format these guys were tops in their game so that more often than not the STEREO mixes are far more superior to the mono recordings unless, remember, Unless they were recorded in mono and then re-processed for stereo. LP's like this and many other were recorded in TRUE Stereo, not reprocessed. And I should add here and now, this is not up for debate, this is not a discussion panel, merely fact that one of us had to bring to the attention to those who've been bamboozled into believing that Mono Blue Note/Prestige/Riverside LP's is the only way to go. About This Item: Really Nice Original Deep Groove Blue Note 84126 vinyl LP of "My Point of View" on the New York USA label. In the deadwax there's the Rudy VAN GELDER seal of approval stamped in as well as the much desired "ear" symbol. There's not a single needle mark or scratch to be found anywhere, a minor scuff or two but that is it. Labels too are clean, in fact one look at the spindle holes tell the tale that this LP has seen very little turntable action. The cover too which apart from minimal shelf wear is a beauty with a slightly dinged lower left corner, otherwise no seam splitting, NO spine wear, no writing, no bent corners and no ring wear, perhaps some light seam wear, though that's really pushing it. I'd have to say that this yet another one of our infamous BUY GOOD BUY ONCE items. What a cast of stars he's got on this outting. Each one of the players is a major solo recording artist in their own right. Hancock was so awesome back then that every major player would drop whatever they were doing just to get the chance to record with him if he called upon them. Just take a look at this line-up.
