Description
Here is a remarkable artifact: an extremely rare record from the Light & Sound imprint, recorded in Somalia and pressed in Lebanon sometime in the early 1970s. It is damaged, unfortunately: about 30 seconds in on each side there is a loud pop for a number of rotations, culminating in a skip. I examined it closely and it appears that there is a pressing bubble at that spot, as well as a tiny radial pressure crack (in line with the grooves). A clean track could be assembled digitally with a little bit of editing, but it would still have some crackle and pop. There is also a touch of heat damage at the very edge, but this only causes a very light rubbing sound in the first two rotations of each side once the music starts. So, this item comes with many caveats, but it may also be the only surviving copy any of us will see in our lifetimes.
