Incredible readings here from De Preist and Rosenberger, bringing this ballet music of Hindemith to life. Fact is, James Goodfriend put it best:
"There is an element of fantasy and of 'swing' in the playing!"
Quite visual, too, I might add, in the listening. And, make no mistake, Rosenberger's piano playing has buoyancy that shows in these works, helped, of course, by the astute guidance of James De Preist, who never was one for the spotlight, but is in fact one of the select few American conductors to have held podium with the "Big Five:" New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Cleveland, and Chicago.
This is the finest pressing of the music sessions -- a Brian Culverhouse production, in fact -- in a jacket without fault; Japanese pressing inside looks entirely unplayed, mint.
Beautiful music, and a beautiful pressing.
