Original 1969 LAMINATED first issue, it's very rare and always in demand having sold for upwards of $600, and some, then not getting any easier to find. XHOL CARAVAN weere formed from the ashes of Soul Caravan a tasty German underground rock crew who made also the sought "GET IN HIGH"...
By 1969 The Soul Caravan were starting to get real creative to the point they morphed into Xhol Caravan releasing the attention getting 'Electrip' album. 'Electrip' is a prime example of where music was heading in the late 60's. The group also made two other important albums at the turn of 1970 (on the OHR music label); "Motherfuckers" & "Hau-ruck"
ELECTRIP opens up with the flush of a toilet (!), and then quickly blasts into a head-over-heels psych/prog/jazz and underground-rock sound directed to music freaks with minds moving outside the bubble of commercial society. For those who don't 'get it' would be advised to try and get over their musical boundaries. Then again, 3-minute sugar-coated-melody enthusiasts need not apply...
"ELECTRIP" is very important album in the history of the Krautrock scene. This was one of Germany's first progressive records, and perhaps the first Krautrock recording - 1969. In the record reviews book "The Crack in the Cosmic Egg" they say "Electrip" was one hell of a remarkable album, especially for the 60's, a warped electric sax and organ fronted fusion/acid blend with a great deal of invention and energy...remarkable throughout !" This album was a mix of free jazz and psychedelic-rock jamming with a dash of humour. Yes Frank Zappa does come to mind, but this is more about long extended jams and improvisation. Those into the band just love the way these guys jammed. Flautist and sax player Hansi Fischer would leave soon after this record to join EMBRYO.
"Electric Fun Fair" opens with the sound of a toilet flushing followed by a circus-like melody before the proceedings unfold. Trippy sax and drums lead the way with some great Hammond organ runs 3 minutes in as drums pound. The sax starts to blowin' 6 minutes in and the melt-in pushes the listener into the next track. "Pop Games" opens with chipmunk-like voices before drums, bass and psychedelic-sax take over. Great sound. It settles before 3 minutes as drums and other sounds come and go with no melody until 4 minutes in when a hypnotic beat is joined by some powerful organ 5 minutes in.
"All Green" is classic XHOL. A real groove - this one. It's like free jazz, as drums, organ and sax stand out and they just let it blow, jam style... "Raise Up High" is one of the "Xhol" classics that takes the listender :higher" (wanna take you higher!) The track featuring vocals are pretty raw and they fit perfectly. Drums, flute, sax and organ stand-out as XHOL hit their stride as reflected in the lyrical line "We're gonna all get stoned, and then get blown." Elsewhere "Walla Masallah" is a short song with spoken words in German dialect with groovy-sound melody.
Fascinatingly the album ends with addictive yodels and a big bang noise of a toilet door slammed shut... the fantastic album sides of this pioneering prog-psych gem has finished, with something fresh and cool like the spring air. Excellent album-theater indeed ... a fantastic "Electrip."

CONDITION: The cover: rated: VG++ laminated front cover with very minor handling crinkles in lamination and that while being normal for near 50 year old European albums such as this also has (VG+) wear to non-laminated back cover as only contact rub. There are no delete marks, no split seams,no faded colors, and no writing ... The psychedelic designed front cover being one of the all-time Krautrock glories
The vinyl: Rated: side one very clean, near "EX" (excellent) and plays clean. Side two is visibly VG+ having light scuffs that are not audible plus a hairline that ticks a little but not overbearing. Same can be said for other sections where over 90% of the total album plays clean. The little parts with stray surface is acceptable being below the music level for the most part. Both German HANSA labels are clean
