The HIGH TIDE
'SEA SHANTIES'
on the original LIBERTY RECORDS LBS 83264 from 1969.
HIGH TIDE were spawned from UK psych freakbeat band 'The Answers', where Tony Hill was exercising his right to let rip in the mid-sixties. He then went on to join The Misunderstood, after some of them were refused work permits for the UK.
Here, he took up a collaboration with wild imaginative violinist Simon House, and the results were enigmatic, and certainly progressive! Some definite explorations of sonic possibilities were taken up, and the soundscapes created show that they had more imagination and capabilities than many of their time!
Three LP's were recorded, though initially only the first two saw release. This was the very first, and it announced them as a unique band with very unusual musical vision. Futilist's Lament, Walking Down Their Outlook, Death Warmed Up, Pushed But Not Forgotten, Missing Out, and Nowhere, are the tracks (and not necessarily in that order).
This is in lovely condition! The vinyl is WONDERFUL EX to NM-.
There are a few marks around the spindle-hole, The surface has full superb shine, and only a couple of light marks visible under bright light - a little 'spider-web' visible from the sleeve perhaps.
The lables are lovely and clean and bright.
The cool gatefold cover is solid VG++, a little general handling and some marks on the white card, and some slight staining on the title edge from being handled.
An initial was penned on the front at top, but as you see in the pic, it's barely visible.
This is a very nice quality playing copy indeed!
