Certainly "rare" and sought ...this is a vintage '70s highly desirable single-cover issue of the legendary HEAVY blues PSYCH jammer "ANYWHERE" housed in an eye-popping nude cover of the group in motorcycle flight ... the traks are long, heavy-handed and in direction of their smash-fave album "Satori" which followed this set a year later...

Best known for its iconic cover art -- featuring the four band members riding three motorcycles, Easy Rider-style, and naked  -- the Flower Travellin' Band's 1970 legebdary second album, "Anywhere."

"Anywhere" followed 1969's "Challenge," which was recorded by the FLOWERS, just before they added on to their name.  "Challenge" by the way offered two different singers tackling Western rock hits of the day by Janis Joplin, Cream, Hendrix, and the Jefferson Airplane. Just after "Challenge", the group became the Flower Travelling Band and issued "Anywhere." The group found a new vocalist, their mainstay singer Akira "Joe" Yamanaka who joined up with guitarist Hideki Ishima, bassist Jun Kowzuk, and drummer Joji "George" Wada.

"ANYWHERE" features highly radical and impact reworkings of blues classics performed in an ever-popular heavy-rock style, mainly led by scorching distortion-effects guitar work. This is especially true of their 15-minute improvisation on Muddy Waters' "Louisiana Blues," which they render the track virtually unrecognizable while introducing numerous themes of the band' own devising; and includes their extended-take, a riveting jam of King Crimson's "21st  Elsewhere the Flowers take on Black Sabbath's eponymous tune (surely the first time anyone covered the Sabbath song on record) comes off uniquely idiosyncratic enough, as does their unique take on the enduring moody ballad "House of the Rising Sun," which delivers Ishima's exaggerated and often off-pitch octave leaps, and accented pronunciations ("...rouse of the lising sun," etc.). In sum, a curious listening experience to say the least. But those familiar with the group's subsequent masterpiece, Satori, will recognize all of these elements as building blocks for that album's unique mixture of progressive daring, psychedelic eccentricity, and muscular, heavy rock austerity.

                 CONDITION: The cover: rated: M- singlefold nude biker group photos cover. Very clean and sharp, outstanding condition with no issues. There are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing  ...

The vinyl: Rated: VG  lots of shine despite stray hairline marks, plays without incident such as skips or jumps, but does have moderate ticks/crackle along the way...much of the proceeds are so heavy and unmarked that a good portion of album plays strong, but keep in mind prevalent surface is expected as noted above!  Suppose this copy can be had at far less than having to pay up the often going $600 cost for the minty gate issue that is seldom ever seen...  both PHILIPS labels are COMPLETELY clean ...no spindle marks!
