Description
You are bidding on an incredibly rare 4 LP box set, especially rare in this condition. This is widely considered to be a groundbreaking recording and a valuable addition to any opera collection.
"FAUST" Opera in Five Acts by Charles GOUNOD. Featuring Victoria De Los Angeles, Nicolai Gedda, Boris Christoff and Soloists, Chorus and Orchestra of the Theatre National De L'Opera conducted by Andre CLUYTENS. HMV ASD 507/508/509/510 original white and gold labels. Released 1959.
The box-set contains 4 records (on the collectable white and gold HMV label) in original poly-lined inner sleeves, cast list, booklet (with laminated cover featuring history, story, line by line libretto translation and photos of recording session) and even has 2 sheets of tissue paper and a piece of square cardboard which I presume came in the box when it was new.
Condition (sleeve/record): EX+/EX+
The box itself in in beautiful condition, no bashes or marks - a strong EX+. The records are in their original poly-lined sleeves and are in near MINT condition. The set looks like it has maybe been played once or twice. The ONLY noteable mark is at the start of side one there is a small surface mark, about 1cm long. HOWEVER, I have played the record and this does not affect the audio in any way - the record still plays absolutely perfectly and the fidelity is stunning.
The cast list is perfect and the booklet is in nice shape - the back cover has a laminate fold at the top, but is otherwise perfect. This is a very nice item, if you have any questions please contact me.
