Beethoven Overtures
(HMV ASD 336 1958 original UK LP)
A selection of Beethoven’s overtures performed by The Berlin Philharmonic Orhcestra conducted by Rudolf Kempe. The five overtures performed are:
Fidelio Op. 72b
Leonore No.3 Op.72a
Coriolan Op. 62
The Creatures Of Prometheus Op. 43
Egmont Op. 84

Condition: Sleeve
Standard single sleeve design made from thick card laminated on the front only and manufactured by Garrod and Lofthouse.
The laminated front sleeve is in fine condition, it’s extremely clean with no tears, no writing, a few little light lamination creases around the edges but nothing of any consquence and due to the colourful design these are hard to spot.
The unlaminated rear sleeve is in decent condition without being mint. It’s yellowed with age and has a slightly grubby appearance, no actual damage or wear though and in a PVC sleeve it looks fine.
The top seam is totally unworn.
The bottom seam is unworn for most of it’s length but then has a two inch split from the open edge inwards. Someone has repaired the split from inside the sleeve but it is still visible.
The spine is clean and unworn with all of the writing clearly readable.

Condition: Record
Both labels are extremely clean with no hint of any damage or defects of any kind.
The record itself is in fine visible condition. It’s the usual good quality fairly thick vinyl which is extremely clean and has retained a nice dark sheen. When seen in normal light there’s a couple of extremely light scuff marks visible when the record is angled towards the light, these are very very light indeed and totally inaudible. When viewed under a very harsh lamp a few more even lighter scuff marks are revealed, these are also completely inaudible.
When played the record is simply great. The sound is clear and clean throughout. When played at high volume the only unwanted surface noise I could hear was a couple of random pops on side two which are actually below the level of the music and so in no way spoil your enjoyment of this lovely record, there’s no groovewear or distortion, no other pops, clicks or crackles, no scratches, jumping or sticking.
I know this is a rare record but I was actually about to bin it based upon it’s visible defects, glad I didn’t now! If you want a copy of a very rare record who’s visible appearance is a bit suspect but which plays great, well, here it is, if on the other hand you like your records to look as well as play perfectly then this one is not for you so please do not bid.
