You can hear a sound sample of this actual record by clicking here: ...........
1st stereo issue on His Master's Voice, catalogue number ASD 519 with the classic gold and white label design. Made in England.
Constantin Silvestri / The Paris Conservatoire Orchestra conducts Hungarian, Slavonic, Spanish Dances and The Polovtsian Dances.
Side One:
Band 1 - Hungarian Dance No.5 in G Minor
Band 2 - Hungarian Dance No. 6 in D Major
Band 3 - Polovtsian Dances (from Prince Igor) (sleeve misprints this as 'Band 2').
Side Two:
Band 1 - Ritual Fire Dance (From El Amor Brujo).
Band 2 - Interlude and Dance No. (From La Vida Breve)
Band 3 - Slavonic Dance In C Major, Op. 46 Number 1
Band 4 - Slavonic Dance in E minor, Op. 46 No.2.
The cover has some wear, mainly on the sleeve corners at the record opening edge side, a couple of small dings. No ring wear to sleeve front or rear. The front remains sharp and no record impression visible. The top left corner of the front sleeve has a very small tear from record removal.
The spine has the record title text fully intact and readable.
There is no defacement and no owner writing on the sleeve. The sleeve rear is overall very clean, with no notations or writing. Only a very little age spotting and very minor usage on the opening edge to report. The sleeve rear is very clean overall.
The original inner sleeve has some creasing. The gold/white labels have some spindle marking, no major faults, no defacement or loss of text at all.
The vinyl does have some signs of play, with some very light surface marks and small marks to be seen when viewing the vinyl, although it plays well enough overall. I did detect an isolated click or two upon playing (the sound sample above is of this record, which will tell you exactly how it plays).
The vinyl does maintain a nice shiny appearance despite the marks. I haven't cleaned the record, and although far from dirty looking, a good reliable cleaning method certainly would benefit the vinyl I am sure.
The vinyl run-out groove area matrix and stamper numbers are as follows:
Side One: 2YLA 1119 21B. Opposite this is M6 217221. The stamper code is R.
Side Two: 2YLA 1120 21. Opposite this number is M6 216864. The stamper code is R Interestingly, above the R is another letter that has been crossed out with an 'X' stamped over it. The crossed out stamper letter appears to be G, making for an unusual production mistake.
Overall, I'd grade sleeve and record as Very Good condition.
