1 GENERAL APPEARANCE OF PLAYING SURFACES

Lovely glossy surfaces. Just a few light paper scuffs both sides.

2 CONDITION OF LABELS

See pictures, no visible spindle marks.

3 COVER

Minimal wear at corners. A little curl at open edge. Pressure ring.
I grade the cover EX+

4 INNER SLEEVE

Original inner sleeve.

5 LISTENING NOTES

One of only three Melodiya recordings I am aware of which have received TAS reviews. This was in issue No 7.

Side 1 Bartok
A few spins of crackle and a few isolated pops at the start. Live recordings, so there are plenty loud coughs and splutters going on in the background. Four light pops at the start of the third movement.

Side 2 Honegger
A few scattered light pops at the start of the second movement. Otherwise very fine, just a couple of isolated light pops elsewhere.
I grade both sides EX to EX+

One of the most thrilling performances of the Bartok I have heard. Perhaps because it is a live recording and there are a few minor ensemble slips. Also because this is not the repertoire you normally associate with Mravinsky. Excellent stuff.

RECORD CLEANING AND ASSESSMENT
This record has been cleaned on the Audio Desk Systeme Gläss machine, and then played IN ITS ENTIRETY, no sampling or guess-work.  You can be sure that every flaw or defect will have been heard and will be specifically mentioned in my review.
GRADING
These are the five gradings I normally use:
NM, EX+,  EX,  EX-, and VG+. I think my listening notes will make these gradings self-explanatory. Any grading lower than VG+ will have more defects than I would tolerate in my own record collection. I use the grading NM very sparingly. I estimate less than one in twenty records I review will achieve this grading. Needless to say, I grade the sound of the record, not the visual appearance of the playing surfaces. Records are for listening to, not for looking at after all. Any scuffs or marks will be detailed in part 1 of my review, and any sounding marks will be fully described in part 5.

These are my personal opinions on the quality of the sound, the performance, and background information about the recording where possible. I hope you find my comments helpful.
PACKAGING AND DESPATCH
All records are carefully packaged in strong cardboard cruciform boxes with supporting inserts. I supply a fresh inner sleeve and the original where it exists. A small post-it note on the inner sleeve gives details of the date and reference number of my cleaning and assessment, should you want to come back to me for more information. I recommend that you take out shipping insurance for higher value records. Needless to say I will make full value declarations for customs purposes for records sold outwith the EU. Please do not ask me to make lower declarations.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT MY RECORDS
I will be putting small amounts of records up for auction at regular intervals. These records are my personal choices, and I have selected them for a number of reasons. The music itself, the quality of the performance, its rarity and desirability, or just because I find a particular record interesting or unusual. I hope you take the time to look at the other records I have up for auction.
