Description
This is a really nice old HMV model 97c gramophone (#B/3 122535) in excellent condition. The case is solid with a very good rexine covering, it has a good leather handle and there are only a few minor scuffs, there is an indentation on the top which you have to look quite hard to see (see photo) but other than that it's excellent. Inside it has near new condition chromework and rexine covering with a very good turntable mat, the speed control is excellent and it has plenty of volume and is very listenable to. It takes about 30 turns of the handle to play a side (although to save elderly springs it's always best to half wind it and then do another half wind half way through the record). I've had a look at the motor, it's nice and oily and looks to be in superb condition with no wear evident in the gears. It comes with the rare matching record carrier, again in excellent condition. This is certainly good enough for display or even for a serious collector I reckon, or just use it for summer picnics. It starts at a tenner. Good luck.
