That means that this is a collectible item by a band you love, and only 249 other copies of it exist.  Plus, it's hand-numbered, so it's essentially one-of-a-kind.  Ish.

This was their debut release, and was a one-time pressing of five hundred records.  Some were black, some were blue / purple ish, and a few were a mixture of colors, referred to as "junk" or "trash" vinyl.

You're looking at a beautiful ebony copy, untouched by the stylus of a turntable, filled with wonderful music.
The FIRST RELEASE by THE HOLD STEADY and it has a great original track, and a cover of an old vinyl b-side by Led Zeppelin that wasn't included on any of their proper albums.  Always a hard one to find, and a favorite of Led Zep fans everywhere, although it was always difficult in the days before CDs to find one!

The Hold Steady didn't get permission, so that's one of the many reasons why this never saw a 2nd pressing.

If you're a fan of the band, you probably understand how rare this record is.  They have a massive following, they sell great numbers of albums, and this only exists in an edition of 500.  That's not very many.  It has NEVER been repressed.  That means there are only around 499 left after this one.  And once you break it down, it's even cooler.

We only have a couple of these left, and we made them! 
(Empirical has their name on it in big letters, but you'll notice our name is on there too.) Just a note to you from your friends at Reptilian, because we care.  These are disappearing, so if you want to get a pristine, brand new copy from the folks who made it, this is one of your last chances.

With each consecutive album, The Hold Steady have received increased attention from international audiences and the media, earning almost universal praise by the press for their performances and records. Actor Daniel Radcliffe, known for his starring role in the Harry Potter film series, called The Hold Steady "the best band this year by far" in a 2007 magazine interview. The band has a dedicated global following, a self-proclaimed "Unified Scene"; the name comes from a lyric in the song "Sweet Payne" that is repeated on other albums.

    * In 2007, the band's song "Girls Like Status" appeared on the soundtrack of Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters.

    * In 2007, the band covered Bob Dylan's "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window?" for the soundtrack to Todd Haynes' Dylan biopic I'm Not There. Their version did not appear in the film, but was included on the soundtrack.

    * In 2008, the band's song "Stuck Between Stations" appeared on the soundtrack in the video game Major League Baseball 2K8.

    * In 2008, the band's song "Stay Positive" appeared on the soundtrack of episode 3.08 of the NBC/Direct TV series Friday Night Lights.

    * Episode 3x05 and 3x09 of the TV series One Tree Hill are titled "A Multitude of Casualties" and "How a Resurrection Really Feels" respectively.

    * The song "The Swish" is used as the menu music for the DVD release of the film Right At Your Door.

    * The introduction to "Massive Nights" is played as a constant loop on Colin Murray's daily BBC Radio 1 show.

REMOVE THE VINYL RECORDS FROM THEIR SLEEVES & LAY THEM DOWN ON A SURFACE TO DISPLAY THEM.
We're rather amazed when we take the care that we do with the vinyl we sell, and then see another seller make more money selling the exact same item
in worse shape, and their picture shows the record out of its cover and out of its sleeve lying on a surface!  I believe the "problem" is that we try to describe every item
in detail so that you'll know exactly what you're getting.  Many sellers will simply say "excellent" "mint" or "great", having no idea what those terms mean in relation to the Goldmine Grading System.  We tell you exactly what you're getting, and even if it's been to hell and back, we still treat it like it's a piece of your mother.  Sometimes it's the detail that screws things up, I think.  If we were vague, like most sellers, you'd just see the name of the band, the title, and a picture, and you'd buy it.  Oh well.

Many sellers seem to have a disregard for the items they're selling and only care about making their pictures look pretty.  We only care about the pieces we sell.  And you.  So you'll see that the records are displayed IN THEIR ORIGINAL SLEEVES, with just a hint of the vinyl showing so that you can see what color they are.  If you want to see the vinyl pulled from its sleeve and resting on a dusty surface, look at someone else's auction or blog and then come back to our page and buy our copy in PERFECT SHAPE.
