Description
Original 78rpm six-record set from the movie "Holiday Inn" and includes the first release of what became the highest grossing song of all time: "White Christmas" written by Irving Berlin and sung by Bing Crosby. These are 10-inch diameter shellac records. The master was so worn out by the time Bing released his Christmas album set "Merry Christmas" in 1945, that he had to re-record it. The version everyone hears today is the latter version from 1945. This set includes the very first recording of "White Christmas"; "Silent Night" was also re-recorded for the "Merry Christmas" album, which is much more common than this album. This is a great piece of holiday history!
This is Decca album No. 306. The album cover has spine wear down one side as the fabric tape is separated; but both covers still open as they should as the fabric tape on the inside is in excellent condition. Album edges are worn and corners are slightly bumped, but graphics are still very presentable. All six discs are in excellent condition with only minor scuffs and no scratches; these also have NO edge chips, hairline cracks, needle wear, or center hold damage - these look like they were rarely played. The inner brown paper sleeves have NO tears or writing on them.
