Description
This is a reasonably priced ORIGINAL 1959 MONO DEEP GROOVE PRESSING OF THE 1959 U.S. BLUE NOTE RECORDS LP titled 'Finger Poppin' With The Horace Silver Quintet'. It is U.S. Blue Note Records catalog number BLP-4008, 'New York USA' labels, heavy rigid deep groove pressing, with the 'ear' symbol and the 'RVG' initials stamped into the dry runout area on both sides. The '43 West 61st St., New York 23' address is shown at the bottom of the back cover. Personnel: Horace Silver-piano / Blue Mitchell-trumpet / Junior Cook-tenor sax / Eugene Taylor-bass / Louis Hayes-drums. Tracks: Finger Poppin', Juicy Lucy, Swingin' The Samba, Sweet Stuff, Cookin' At The Continental, Come On Home, You Happened My Way, Mellow D. Visual condition of record is conservatively VG with some visible surface marks, some of which appear prominent cosmetically but which cannot be felt and do not affect play, and one very small surface scratch which can barely be felt but which also has no effect on play, I have play tested the record over this area. Record plays very nicely and quietly with just a little bit of widely scattered very light surface noise. Condition of cover is conservatively a low VG+ with the following flaws: a couple of light rubber stamps near the top of the back cover, a few small and light stains near the bottom of the back cover and along the right edge of the back cover, a little general contact wear, and some general wear and a couple of very small frayed areas along the edges and on the corners. This LP would be a choice addition to any Blue Note Records or modern jazz record collection!
