Description
HORACE SILVER QUINTET “Song For My Father” FIRST PRESSING Blue Note 84185 Stereo Vinyl
This is the FIRST PRESSING, 1964, "VAN GELDER" stamped, P-pressing of HORACE SILVER QUINTET’s “Song For My Father” on the "New York" labels of Blue Note BST 84185. Musicians include Horace Silver – piano, Blue Mitchell – trumpet, Junior Cook – tenor saxophone, Gene Taylor – bass, Roy Brooks – drums.
VINYL plays well with consistent light to medium level surface noise, with pops and ticks, some loud, some repeating. Ensemble sections are dynamic and clear. No Skips. No locked grooves. No distortion. Good gloss. Many hairline marks, a couple feelable. (If you can't feel it you won't hear it). The "New York" labels are generally clean with spindle marks. See photos.
COVER is in Okay shape, corners very worn. Much Ringwear and strafing/scarring of cover. Seams and spine show much cracking, various splits. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23" back jacket shows stains, “Bunny”, aging. Please see photos.
PLEASE NOTE: The description of this LP is LITERAL. If you are expecting a mint, NM, OR super clean LP, DO NOT BID ON THIS RECORD. If YOU ARE NEW TO VINYL, do NOT expect a MINT, CLEAN LP. STARTING PRICE REFLECTS CONDITION. “Surface noise, pops and ticks” EQUALS the as noted level of surface noise, pop and ticks. THANKS!! .
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC AUDIO DESK SYSTEME VINYL PRO CLEANER.
