Description
Absolutely beautiful copy of the original 1963 first pressing of the Silver’s Serenade LP by the Horace Silver Quintet, on Blue Note stereo ST-84131. Original New York 61st Street address with the “ear” mark and Rudy Van Gelder’s stamp in the runoffs. This is a truly stunning copy. The disc is very nearly perfectly mint and plays flawlessly and just beautifully. There are a few completely superficial sleeve scuffs, barely, but they don’t affect the play in the least. Truly a sparkling player that is just a joy to hear. These original pressings sound so so much better and clearer than the later pressings, which is especially noticeable in the tone of Blue Mitchell’s trumpet, which simply jumps out of the speakers as if he were right in the room. Wow… this copy is incredible. The laminated cover is likewise nearly pristine with just a bit of light wear. Very very light corner wear on a couple of corners and very minor wear at the open edge, but barely. A few little scuffs and light ringwear but really this is a gorgeous cover, remarkably crisp and clean. It even comes with the original Blue Note 25 Years inner sleeve. This is truly a top original copy, very hard to beat.
