HOWARD MCGHEE “Howard McGhee’s All Stars” Blue Note 5012, Lex, FR, DG Mono Vinyl
This is the 1952, first edition, 10”, Flat Rim, Deep Groove, “P”-pressing of HOWARD MCGHEE’s “Howard McGhee’s All Stars” on the Deep Groove "767 Lexington Ave” labels of Blue Note BLP 5012.
VINYL plays with consistent low to occasionally medium level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????,relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks (some repeating “swooshes”). Locked grooves Side 1, #1, #2, #4. But ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong with clean transients, powerful extension and full tone. NO distortion. NO skips. As with all first pressing Blue Notes, the brilliantly performed and pressed music overcomes surface imperfections. Decent gloss. Many hairline marks, handful feelable. The “"767 Lexington Ave” labels show minor aging and spindle marks under direct light. See photos.
FRAME COVER is in good condition, corners worn, normal aging, but solid colors. Spine and seams in very good condition, 2” split on top seam at opening. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 797 Lexington Ave, New York 21, N.Y” back jacket shows aging, otherwise clean. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON VPI 16.5 VINYL CLEANER.
