HOWLIN’ WOLF ‘MESSAGE TO THE YOUNG’ 1971 ORIGINAL US PRESS CHESS CRT FAB! VG+VG+.

A small selection of great albums from my collection!

This one is Howlin’ Wolf’s 1971 album ‘Message to the Young’ on Chess CRT. It’s the extremely rare original US pressing which arrived in the UK as an import (see import clip top right on front cover’.

The slight change in style reflects the period it was recorded in and instead of the raw electric Chicago blues of the 50s and 60s there’s a movement towards a little bit of a soul / funky feel. Does it work? Well, I think that it does; massively. This record seems to appear very rarely so don’t miss out!

The vinyl has a mark on track 1 Side A that you can see in the final photo. I’ve played the track again and again on my Project Debut turntable and you can’t hear any distortion.

Overall the sound is vibrant and it’s fascinating to listen to Howlin Wolf in this slightly different context. I would grade the vinyl as VG +.

The cover has aged relatively well for its 50 years. There’s the level of discolouration that you would expect without it being really dirty but no rips or tears. The spine is great. I would grade the cover as VG+ as well.

I clean all records carefully with ‘Vinyl Clear ’ but they may benefit from a clean with a professional machine.

I use Record Collector gradings. Please ensure that you understand them before you bid.

Each single will be packed in a mailer.

I have long-standing very strong feedback so hopefully can be seen as a trustworthy seller. I pack carefully and dispatch the morning after the end of the auction.

I’m not seeking to make a killing on postage, so am happy to combine postage up to 2 kgs (2nd class small parcel).
