Monstrously rare the greatest Chicago blues album one of the rarest promotional copies of Howlin' Wolf's "Rocking Chair" cover album. Very early true 1st pressing pre-release white "Review Copy" Chess promotional labels. 1st print cardboard cover is in Excellent Minus condition. It's insanely hard to find a cover of this album in such a marvellous condition. Most of the time, the cover contains a severe ring wear along with a heavy edge and corner wear. This copy has only very light barely noticeable hints of ring wear along with some very light edge and corner wear. I've graded the cover Excellent Minus overall, but if I had to grade the back cover separately it would be Very Good Plus due to the soling and yellow age spots at the top. However, the slick itself remains fully intact along with the spine without any missing pieces and tears. The cover doesn't have any splits or damage. The first thing that impresses you when you take the vinyl into your hands is its weight. This thick heavy weight unflexible vinyl weighs almost 200g and contains the omega ("?" in a circle in the dead wax) symbol belonging to an unidentified mastering engineer who initially worked at Ter Mar Studios and later went on to work at RCA Studios, Chicago / RCA's Mid-America Recording Center, Chicago, Illinois. The popularity of Howlin' Wolf at the time was reflected on the condition of this DJ radio station copy and someone named Moses (DJ?!), whose name is etched in the dead wax on both sides, played the record at the listeners' request very often. I grade the condition of the vinyl as Good Plus (G+) and in spite of the marks and surface noise it has plenty of life, which allows to enjoy this magnificent album. This DJ promotional review copy is so rare that you might not be able to come across it ever again. Therefore, perhaps it's your only chance.
