Description

Original UK Philips black label stereo issue LP.
The first HP Lovecraft LP released in October 1967, a Chicago based band who took the name from their collective love of HP Lovecraft's books. Their first album is psychadelic classic of self penned tunes & covers of traditional folk songs given a psychadelic twist and was recorded in Chicago, just before they moved to San Francisco following high-profile shows at the Fillmore West supporting the local San Fransisco Flower Power groups and were on the brink of wider success......
The matt mono flipback sleeve is intact and in VG+ condition, it has some corner/edge wear and some storage wear on the front cover and some light rubbing/discolouration on the rear cover. The spine is intact, but slightly worn & mostly readable and the plain inner is intact & in VG+ condition.

The record is in visually EX+ condition with very little evidence of being played, except for a couple of faint hairlines visible under bright light on each side that do not affect play. The labels are clean & bright, in EX+ condition, with evidence of one or two faint spindle markings and no Mercury Records stamp found on later pressings.

The sound reproduction is EX+, with definately no skips, sticks or jumps on either side, but there is some very brief background noise during the run in grooves, overall a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are 852113, 1Y//1 mother stamper 1-1-2, 2Y//1 mother stampers 1-1-3. This is one of the earliest pressings of the original 1967 UK stereo 1st press issue of this album.
