H.R.H. The Prince of Wales – Jubilee Speech, 1935 78 rpm record Octacros No.1156.
This is a good example of a single-sided 10” 78 rpm record that contains the Jubilee Speech by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales (the future King Edward VIII). I have read that the speech was broadcast (by the BBC) on April 12th 1935. It was released on the Octacros label in 1935 – No.1156 – and is in close to EX condition.The Prince talks about his setting up of the King George Jubilee Trust – which will help existing and approved voluntary organisations who work with young people. He invites contributions to be sent to St James Palace London NW1. I have read that this was a record to be played in cinemas – where of course many people would have heard it, as well as just on the initial broadcast. The reverse side has no label and there is a simple pattern sort of etched into it.
The record will be well-wrapped / packed. I have sent many 78s through the mail over the last few years without a single accident.
