Rare vintage 45 rpm record: THE CAPITOL RECORD - A SOUVENIR OF THE CAPITOL TOWER - 7" PROMO EP on Capitol Records, circa 1956; no catalog number is listed on the cover, spine or record labels; labels say "for promotional use only". The matrix #'s are 45-PRO-254-D1/45-PRO-255-D1. This EP celebrates the early history of Capitol and features snippets of a nice selection of their artists, from Frank Sinatra (with a portion of the first ever recording at Capitol Tower Recording Studio conducted by Sinatra, as well as Love & Marriage) and Bozo The Clown, Bugs Bunny and friends, Dean Martin, Jackie Gleason and other. The narrator is George Fenneman, who is best known as Groucho Marx' sidekick/announcer on You Bet Your Life. Nearly 13 minutes total. The back cover has a photo of Sinatra conducting the above-mentioned recording session. No printed date, but the tower was built in 1955-56, completed in 1956, and this would have been made right about that time.
Condition is VG+/EX (the sleeve has some ripples to the left margin of the cover and a small spot at top of back cover and minimal corner rubbing; the vinyl has a few minimal scuffs and a couple of short soft hairlines, and clean labels).
