A letter hand signed by Barry Waterman of Halo Records accompanied the package, apologizing for the late delivery. It comes with two original booklets, a Halo Record invite flyer card to attend the March 17, 1989 debut release at Cabaret Metro and cocktails at The Smart Bar inside of Cabaret Metro. Card Flyer invite is official invite for attendee and a guest. This mini package also includes a complimentary admission for two at the 10/5/1989 Avalon NiteCLUB with Smashing Pumpkins as one of 4 bands (Mrs. Frazier, Smashing Pumpkins, GloryHounds, Downtown Scotty Brown & Co.). All invites are original on cardstock event handbill flyer. Sadly, his letter stated it also included response cards that requested feedback about each band- Those were not included but was surprised the "Smashing Pumpkin tidbits" offered the two cardstock flyer handbill invites/admission passes! Light Into Dark: A Chicago Music Compilation 1Main man behind this compilation is Chicago’s Barry Waterman, founder of Halo Records label. The pressing of this LP was cut to 1,000 copies. Funded entirely by Waterman, this was quite an enterprise for a city in which beat oriented house and industrial music was top of the bill. And this record had some guitar based ‘alternative’ bands in the offering! Well produced with a consistent overall sound on the record, bands recording at Chicago’s best studios and rather neat packaging with a cool booklet introducing the bands, the album was originally released at a party at Cabaret Metro on March 17th 1989, with 6 bands off the record playing a half hour live set (Ghost Swami, Gold September, Poster Children, Price of Priesthood, Seven Letters and The Smashing Pumpkins). After this high, funds hit rock bottom and there was hardly any marketing or promotion on this release. Halo Records’ first release would be its last.
