Jazz vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson made some suitably superb albums in his lifetime, though few are quite as instantly accessible as 1975 set "Montara". Heavily influenced by the rhythms of Latin America, the jazz-fusion/jazz-funk set contains a string of impeccable moments, from the celebratory dancefloor goodness of "Camel Rise" and the laidback bossa deepness of "Montara" (where Hutcherson is in particularly fine form on the vibes), to the stretched-out jazz haziness of "Love Song" and the carnival-ready jumpiness of sweat-soaked standout "Yuyo". In other words, it's an inspired set from a master of his art. Don't sleep on this fine reissue.
