Hand Clappin..Folk LP+INSERTS 1969 PRIVATE PRESS Harvesters/Locksmiths/Fenwick++

Up for grabs is this extremely hard to find vinyl album entitled Hand Clappin' Foot Stompin' Funkie But Folk. This is a private pressing issued by the Dungeon Folk Club in Birmingham to showcase the local folk scene at the time. It contains the very first recording by the Harvesters (a full three years before the release of their highly sought after LP), along with a variety of other artists, several of whom were only recorded on this LP (see full track listing below). The back cover contains extensive sleeve notes on all of the artists and tracks.

Also included are both of the original inserts which came with the LP. The first gives information on the release of the album; the second gives information on local folk clubs. The LP was only issued in a very small quantity and rarely turns up at all, even without the inserts.

On the Dungeon label, it was pressed at Tetlow Recording Studios and has both a Dungeon and a Tetlow catalogue number (one on the cover and one on the label). The numbers are DLP 100 / TET 124 and the date of issue is 1969.

Condition

The vinyl is only in Good Plus condition visually, as it does have some marks, but it still plays through very well overall. There are no jumps or sticks whatsoever and not much crackle or background noise at all. Track 3 on Side 1 has a few clicks but is still perfectly listenable.

The labels are in Very Good condition, clean and bright with clear, perfect printing and very minor signs of wear and just a few spindle marks.

The inserts are both in Very Good Plus condition with just a slight crease to the bottom left corner.

The flipback cover is in Very Good condition, having a bit of edge and corner wear and light creases but nothing major (see pic). There is one small tear on the bottom flipback, which has been neatly glued back down, and a few specks of very light age discolouration. All in all, the cover is in amazingly good shape considering that it is flimsier than covers from major labels and the predominant colour is pale pink. 

All my vinyl records are strictly graded according to Record Collector magazine's grading system. Please check my GRADING GUIDE to see a description of each grade. If any item has any writing, stickers, sticker marks, tears etc these will always be mentioned along with the grading. All records are sent in custom-made mailers, with stiffeners, and are packaged outside their sleeves to prevent edge splits.
