Description
You are bidding on hand written lyrics to the song "You're My Meat" by Skeets Tolbert. The lyrics are written in fountain pen on the back of an American Federation Of Musicians Local 802 invoice, which Skeets may have worked for here in Houston. The introduction on the top of the lyrics reads: "Duke; I will pick up records the later part of this week or next week, take care of them for me. Skeets Tolbert" These lyrics came to us in a box of records, possibly from Skeet's home or that of a neighbor or relative. The box mostly contained junk, but after sifting through it I found these few things all seemingly related. The Art Foxall record is signed by Art to Skeets in the uper left corner as shown. It reads "To Skeets a great human and musician. Best of luck always, musically yours, Art Foxall". Also found in this box was a rare DUKE 45 sent out by Don Robey to friends, family and business associates announcing the birth of daughter Althea Antoinette. Skeet's name can plainly be seen in the address on the 45 mailer pictured above. The 45 is in perfect condition. Although difficult to see, the postmark date is February 1963, also pictured.
