Description
Sanford Schlussel, piano. (2-12" royal blue Columbia discs
50187- D and 50188-D. Extremely rare edition of a rare
pair from the first small test run of royal blue discs in 1933.
The first disc uses the new royal blue label. The second disc uses
the older (1928) black "Viva Tonal/ Electrical Process" label.
Both labels bear the original black "Viva Tonal" catalog
numbers. This small test run was made before 1934 when
Columbia reassigned these discs in the royal blue 5,000
numbering series. Have never ever seen this extremely rare
edition. Discs have extremely shiny surfaces and are in
absolutely mint condition having been examined minutely.
From the private collection of R. Peter Munves, who was in the record business as well as an avid collector for over 50 years and has decided to part with his beloved collection. All albums are from the late 20’s to early 40’s, and many are original, 1st editions containing pristine pressings from the golden age of 78’s.
