Hank Mobley "A Slice of the Top" Blue Note LT-995 Liberty, recorded 1966 and released 1979 so this could be a 1st pressing because no bar code and Reggie Workman is mistakenly identified as the bassist which was only on the original (see below). Album cover says Rudy Van Gelder was recording engineer but no Van Gelder stamp on run-off. Cover is NM- because on small hole punch, inner sleeve NM and vinyl is Near Mint.
A Slice of the Top is an album by jazz saxophonist Hank Mobley recorded on March 18, 1966. The album was not released on the Blue Note label until 1979. It features performances by Mobley with a larger than usual ensemble of trumpeter Lee Morgan, euphonium player Kiane Zawadi, tuba player Howard Johnson, alto saxophonist James Spaulding, pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Bob Cranshaw, and drummer Billy Higgins. The arrangements were written by Duke Pearson. On the original LP, Reggie Workman was mistakenly identified on the sleeve as the bassist.
Mobley composed the music for the album in 1964 while imprisoned for a narcotics offence. The sheet music was given to Duke Pearson to arrange while Mobley was incarcerated.
Mobley was bitter about Blue Note delaying the release of the album until over a decade after it was recorded. In an interview, Mobley complained: "I have about five records on the shelf - Blue Note had half the black musicians around New York City, and now the records are just lying around. What they do is just hold it and wait for you to die."

All vinyl (except for sealed albums and new Mosaic Boxes) have been ultrasonic cleaned but LPs need to be cleaned every couple of years. All albums come with an external plastic protective cover. Wherever I can I include the original inner sleeve but put cleaned vinyl in a new white non-toxic paper sleeve. IMPORTANT NOTE - Regarding the quality and playback of vinyl records. Vinyl, generally, is in various stages of quality depending on being an original pressing, deep groove, physical condition, and age of album. The older vinyl is usually dryer which creates little ticks and pops, but that can be handled by professionally softening records with with "Last" record preservation treatment. Another thing to consider is the quality of playback equipment like turntable cartridge and needle. Worn needles can cause all sorts of distortion and damage vinyl irreparably. Plus the difference in sound between a needle's shape, conical, elliptical or the other two can make a big difference in sound as well as picking up imperfections on the record. No vinyl is 100% perfect and even some have particles can be left from the pressing that have to be cleaned off for a pleasant listening experience.
