Description
Here is a peice of American country music history in it's original form. These rarely come around in decent condition. When they do, it belongs on display. This is a true holy grail to a collector of vintage country and a must for the Hank Williams Sr. fan.
If one was to check my history, you will see that I am a seller of records exclusively. But in spite of that fact, I am unable to play grade these because my turntables do not have 78 speed, nor do I have a 78 needle. But I will do my best to grade visually, letting my reputation instill confidence.
MGM Records - MGM-107 - 4 - 1947?
The album book is in EX condition, considering that it is almost 60 years old. The front face has only very minor shelfwear, quite nice. The binding is in tact with no rips and clear gold print. The last M in MGM and the 7 are worn off since the were printed on the fold joint. Actually, I am not sure they were ever printed, just missed. The black is worn from the very top and the bottom of the binding. This can only be expected. The inside holder pages are NM.
Compared to other 78s I have seen over the years, these are in excellent condition. 3 of the 4 have only light surface marks, no feelable scratches and all still have gloss. One of the 4 has some surface scuffs, but considering 78s are deep groove, they may not affect play. But then again, I am no expert on 78s. Feel free to direct me with your questions.
I am starting with a higher than normal price than my usual. Just in case. It's a nice package, Not NM but better than most of these that I come across.
Realising the breakablility of 78s, I can assure the buyer that they will be packed safely, thus my shipping rate will be a tad higher.
I ship records properly, 'disk out of cover' in a 2 ml poly sleeve and sent in a cardboard LP mailer. Questions are welcomed. Bid with confidence.
VINYL GRADING
M- = a pristine record
EX+ = a near mint record. May have VERY minor marks that can only be seen in bright light and plays with NO surface noise
EX = a well-kept record. May have micro-sleeve lines, perhaps minor marks that do NOT affect play. NM-
VG+ = a nice record. May have superficial marks but plays with MINIMAL surface sound ONLY in quiet passages.
VG = a used record. Has visible marks, light scratches and minor surface noise, but is still a good listening experience.
VG- = a well-used record. Has marks, minor scratches and obvious surface noise, but still plays through with NO skips and is still enjoyable.
